FOCUS OF BRANCHING OUT
Brainport Eindhoven is one of the fastest growing and innovative high tech centres in Europe. Multinationals and SME's are working towards solutions in the field of Advanced Technology, Smart manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence as well as Medical, Design, Mobility and Agrifood. In order to keep up with this growth there is a high demand for skilled and talented personnel. As there are not enough qualified local individuals to fill the vacancies in the Brainport region, companies are searching and recruiting talent from abroad. Within this global society having talented international employees can be a great strength to companies, yet it can also complicate company dynamics. Branching Out targets struggles that companies and foreign knowledge workers might face; retention of international talent and difficulties in dealing with cultural differences at work or home.
PROGRAMMES OFFERED BY BRANCHING OUT:
| 23% of the foreign knowledge workers leave the Netherlands after only 2 years of residence |

RETENTION OF INTERNATIONAL TALENT
The process of attracting and appointing these highly educated people can be long and costly. Many foreign knowledge workers living in the Netherlands leave the company too quickly and move to a new country or return home. As a result, companies are constantly occupied with hiring and training new talent.
DIFFICULTIES WHEN WORKING IN MULTICULTURAL TEAMS
The workforce in many companies in the area has become more and more diverse. Diversity can be a true asset to have a talented team, however in many cases cultural differences are linked to creating difficulties in working towards a common goal. Frustration, conflicts and disappointments can all too easily lead to mediocre results and higher turnover.
